The Home for Activities in Newport
Bringing Newport together
Lysaght Institute is a venue unlike any other. Steeped in Newport’s industrial history, Lysaght Institute was built by the firm of John Lysaght Ltd in 1928, as a venue for the Orb Steelworkers and their families to meet and socialise. The building has retained its original Art Deco period character, with many features including large balcony areas and landscaped gardens remaining, creating a unique venue with a strong Newport heritage.
Re-opening in November 2012 following a £3 million refurbishment, the Lysaght Institute has been transformed into an exciting venue fit for the 21st century.
We boast a range of flexible rooms to suit every requirement, from meetings for 10 to dance classes for 180, along with a host of extra facilities to make your community activity easy and enjoyable.
